1、标题
通常来说，个人陈述的标题可以直接用Personal Statement 或者Statement of
Purpose，请把标题写在正文之前或者做在页眉页脚里面。因为PS通常属于学校要求提交的文书类型之一，如果自己取题可能和其他类型的文书搞混，所以一般建议不要为了出彩而擅自更改题目;外国人相对也比较喜欢规范化和标准化的格式，不然也就不会出现论文的标准化格式，比如APA了。
2、页眉与页脚
个人陈述中可以添加页眉和页脚，你可以写下你的姓名，申请学校或申请专业等等信息，比如：University of XXX , Personal
Statement。请注意，内容要精简，这才不会显得冗杂，便于查阅;其实面对这么多份的申请文书，招生委员会的老师也难免头疼和疲倦，这跟高考语文阅卷一样，所以格式的标准、一目了然就会给他们留下不错的印象。
3、正文布局
根据国外写作的习惯，个人陈述的正文一般顶格写，选择两端对齐的排版方式(这样看上去比较舒服些，但好多外国学生习惯左对齐，这也是可接受的)，段落与段落之间可以空一行，便于查看。
4、字体及间距
个人陈述通常在Microsoft Word中 编写，正文可以使用Times New Roman 或者Arial 的十二号字体，单倍行距。
当然，必须留心个别学校个别院系可能会有比较细致的要求，自己需要多加留意，从而做出相应的调整。
5、字数
一般来说，学校对个人陈述的字数要求控制在1,000字左右，当然，一般是800-900字之间。就差不多是两页的样子。不过有些学校会对留学文书有明确的字数要求，如果明确要求你的PS在500字左右，这个时候你就只能尽力删字数了。在国外，要逐渐适应“标准就是标准”，没有讨价还价的余地。狠狠心吧那就!!
6、行数
根据一般的经验，个人陈述的行数通常控制在44～48行。你可以在Word->File->Page Setup->Document
Grid->Lines Per page里面修改。
7、结尾
个人陈述的正文结束之后，可以加上Signature 和Date，显得比较正式。

最后，交纳电子版个人陈述的时候，建议把文章转成PDF
格式，一方面因为Word在网上提交的时候很多情况下都会出现格式的不兼容或者变化的问题，从而将你费尽心思排好版本的文书搞得“面目全非”;另一方面PDF格式的文件在浏览时会显得更加美观整洁;当然如果是直接在线提交，那么就不存在这个问题。

个人陈述（personal statement），不仅是每一位在英国求学的小伙伴修炼之路上的必经之难题，也是人生中千千万万考验中的道模拟题，和我一起来看看英国留学个人陈述该写些什么。
申请原因：
文书的最开始当然是要交代自己的背景啦！
要让admission看一眼就知道你递交申请的原因是啥，简单直接的表达会让你的application在多如牛毛的personal statement里成为一股清流，还省去大学招生办不少过滤废话的时间！
短短的一段或两段里，小伙伴们应重点解决以下两个问题：
为什么申请这个科系：何时开始对这个科目感兴趣？你是否有逐渐加深对这个科目的了解？
你如何保持对这个科目的兴趣？你对这个科目的兴趣是否影响了你的未来甚至职业规划？你为什么想要在大学阶段选修这门科目？为什么选择来英国求学：过去有无接触英式教育？如有，何时开始、为什么、是否对你的大学申请选择有直接影响？如无，为什么选择英国大学本科？
个人努力：
然后，就是小伙伴们向大学证明自己真的辗转反侧、茶饭不思、悬梁刺股、炒鸡炒鸡想读这个系的好时候啦！

平常有没有多看书多读报？
近期你申请科目的领域里有没有发生什么大事件？你是否读过相关的报道分析？这些事件如何启发了你？
经历篇：（在你到目前的所有经历里找和报的科系关联度更高哒！）你是否参加过任何活动或竞赛？这些活动与你申请的学科有无直接关系？如有，你收获了什么？如无，这个活动对你有什么特殊意义/对你起到了怎样的帮助值得你写进文书？

国际生：你认为自己有足够的英语水平应对英国的大学课程吗？你过去有完成过任何纯英教学的课程吗？有无任何证据能显示你具备良好的适应与交流能力（在英国高中参加辩论队会是个炒鸡好的例子！）？

deferredentry：有gap year的计划吗？如有，打算利用这一年完成什么事情？（记得要证明自己并没有荒废青春哦）已经过了gapyear？过去一年都做了什么事情/为自己的大学生活做了什么准备？

CV和resume有什么区别
CV的完整形式是拉丁文Curriculum Vitae，在美国，CV主要是用于申请学术、教育、科研职位，或者申请奖学金等等。精确而言，CV应该是履历,
Resume才是简历。Resume概述了与求职有关的教育准备和经历，是对经验技能的摘要，其主要目的在说服用人单位老板雇佣自己;Curriculum
Vitae则集中说明学术工作，不重视与文化程度和学习成绩无直接关系的资料。
留学简历和个人陈述有什么关系
二者侧重点不同。留学简历是框架式写作，侧重于简洁与全面;陈述的写作则侧重于细节和独特性。留学简历是用简洁、准确的语言层次分明地概括申请者的信息，帮助评委们在短时间内对申请者有一个全面的了解，如：曾做过哪些工作、参与过哪些科研课题等;个人陈述则是从简历中挑选出重要、有代表性的事例展开来写，通过细节来展示申请者所具有的素质和能力。个人陈述可以使评委更好地了解申请者，帮助他们从千篇一律的PS中脱颖而出。
相辅相成，互为补充。个人陈述中重点写到的事例在留学简历中同样需要重点写。不能错误地认为已经在个人陈述中讲述过的经历，没有必要再写进简历中，于是把一些剩下的根本不重要的信息写在简历里。此外，留学简历还能对申请者的个人陈述起到补充作用。申请者可以把他认为重要但因篇幅限制无法在个人陈述中详细介绍的经历写在简历中，从而更全面地展现申请者的经历和背景。
留学简历的基本内容
留学简历一般包括个人信息(姓名、通讯方式)、要申请的职位或目标、工作经历、教育背景、发表的文章、英语考试成绩、所获得的各种奖励和荣誉、业余活动、推荐人的基本信息等九项基本内容。在写每一项内容时，应注意时间顺序为倒叙，即把与现在接近的事情写在前面，遥远的事情写在后面。留学简历长度一般控制在1-2页内，字体用小4
或5号。
一、页眉：留学简历要有页眉，内容包括学生姓名和出生日期。
姓名：按照中文名字的顺序用拼音写出名字，并用逗号区分姓和名，用Mr 或Ms 说明性别，例如Ms Luo,
Weiying。特别需要注意的是，无论你参加TOEFL/GRE考试，还是在填写各种各样的申请表格时，名字的拼写顺序一定要保持一致，否则，录取委员会的工作人员会认为是两个人而把申请材料分成两个档案。
出生日期：按照月/日/年mm/dd/yyyy 格式，其中月份要用英文，例如 August 8,
2008。需要注意年份必须完全写明，不可用08代替2008;月份必须用英文拼出或采用公认的简写，即 January (Jan)，February
(Feb)，March(Mar)，April(Apr)，May，June，July，August (Aug)，September
(Sept)，October(Oct)，November(Nov)，December(Dec);日期可用序数词，如：1st,2nd,3rd,4th,;也可用基数词，如：1，2，3，4，。但美式大多采用后者;在年份和月日之间必须用逗号隔开;日期不可全部采用如7122003或7/12/2003的 *** 数字书写，否则会引起误解。因为英美在这方面的习惯用法不同。按美国人习惯，上述日期为2003年7月12日，而按英国习惯则是2003年12月7日。

三、要申请的职位或目标：这一点要视情况而定，并不是非写不可。
四、工作经历或科研经历
工作经历是简历里不可缺少的部分。理工科学生的实验室工作属于科研经历，不要与工作后的科研经历分开。虽然有是否拿工资的区别，但科学研究的本质是一样的。实验室技能对录取和奖学金起到至关重要的作用。具体内容应包括以下几项：
受聘或科研项目起止日期
受聘公司或参与的科研项目的名称：如果公司是世界知名的大公司，只要写出公司名字即可;如果公司只在国内很有名但外国人并不知道，就要用简洁的一两句话加以介绍。
受聘期间的部门和职位
具体工作职责和成绩：这部分是工作经历或科研经历的核心内容，应根据要申请的专业所要求的能力，有选择地列举相关内容以及在从事这些工作时所获得的奖励。对于与申请专业无关或对申请没有任何帮助的经历则要毫不留情地删掉。在这部分，要注意使用动词来加强和突出申请者的能力或业绩。如果动词用的是一般过去时或现在分词，其他的动词也要保持一种平行结构。例如：
Doubled (Doubling) annual profit to US$3 million
Secured (Securing) crude term contracts worth US$40 million
Arranged (Arranging) crude processing deals worth US$7 million
Completed (Completing) two port construction project
五、教育背景
教育背景是留学简历最重要的内容。对于申请学位，教育背景比工作经历更重要，一般写在简历的前面部分。但对于工作多年或没能拿到学位的申请者，教育背景应该放在后面写，而把能突出申请者丰富工作经验和能力的工作经历放在前面写。教育背景包括以下内容：
毕业学校的名字：如果是申请硕士以上学位，从大学写起，不必写中学。涉及到在国内学校的名字，课程名称要与成绩单或学校网站上一致
(如果不清楚，用其它颜色重点标记)
入校日期和毕业日期
所学专业：涉及到要申请学校的专业，系，学院名字，一定要跟每个学校网上的专业名称核对 (如果不清楚，用其它颜色重点标记)
获得的学位：涉及到在国内拿到学位，跟材料部门同事确认BE,BS,BA,MS,ME……
在校期间的GPA：若成绩单上有，一定写成绩单上的;没有，就空着
六、发表的文章 具体内容应包括：
发表文章的时间
发表文章的题目
刊登文章的刊物名称、级别(国家一级刊物还是省内刊物)
是之一作者还是第二作者
例如：

八、所获得的各种奖励和荣誉：要说明其份量，比如获得荣誉的学生比例等，还要有具体的获奖时间，注明获奖年份。
九、业余活动 更好写一些新颖的活动
尽量不要写"组织了每年的春节联欢晚会"或"组织了学校的篮球比赛"，这些活动几乎每个申请者都写，在评委眼里都是没有太大用图的信息。如果没有好的活动可写，还不如不写。在写参加过的公益活动时，同样避免写"我参加了希望工程捐款"或"献血"，这些公益活动在美国是很平常的事。
专家提醒大家注意出国留学简历里涉及到的各种具体名称一定要和个人陈述和推荐信保持一致。但要注意简历里对具体活动和工作内容的表述要和推荐信不同
